The prophet is not called to display spiritual gifts.

The prophet is called to reveal the heart of God.

Before you speak...

Ask yourself:

Is this loving?

Is this biblical?

Is this the right timing?

Am I the right person?

Have I prayed enough?

Sometimes the most prophetic thing you can do...

Is remain silent until God says speak.

Mature prophets understand that timing is part of revelation.

Delivery is part of revelation.

Tone is part of revelation.

Humility is part of revelation.

God is not looking for loud prophets.

He is looking for trustworthy vessels.

Lesson Objective

To develop practical skills for ministering prophetically in a biblical, loving, humble, and accountable manner.

ACTIVATION 1 — The Heart Check

Before giving a prophetic word, ask:

• Why do I want to share this?

• Is it motivated by love?

• Does it glorify Christ?

• Does it build up the other person?

• Have I prayed over it?

Journal your answers.

ACTIVATION 2 — Study Biblical Examples

Read:

• Nathan confronting David (2 Samuel 12)

• Agabus warning the Church (Acts 11:27–30)

• Paul's teaching on prophecy (1 Corinthians 14)

Answer:

• How did they minister?

• What can I imitate?

• What attitudes should I avoid?

ACTIVATION 3 — Delivering a Word

Write a short encouraging prophetic message based on Scripture.

Then evaluate it:

• Is it biblical?

• Is it clear?

• Is it encouraging?

• Is it humble?

• Would I be comfortable if church leaders reviewed it?

Revise it if necessary.

ACTIVATION 4 — Listening Before Speaking

Spend fifteen minutes praying for someone.

If you sense an impression, do not immediately speak it.

Instead ask:

• Is this from the Lord?

• Is this the right time?

• Is this for prayer only?

Write your conclusions.

ACTIVATION 5 — Practice Under Accountability

Practice ministering to another believer in the presence of a mature leader or mentor.

Afterward receive feedback on:

• Humility

• Accuracy

• Clarity

• Compassion

• Biblical foundation

Record what you learned.

Write 3–4 pages discussing:

• The character of a trustworthy prophetic minister.

FINAL CHALLENGE

Anyone can speak.

Few know how to minister.

A prophetic word is not measured by how dramatic it sounds.

It is measured by whether it reflects the heart of Jesus.

Never use prophecy to control people.

Never use revelation to gain influence.

Never use spiritual gifts to elevate yourself.

Minister with compassion.

Minister with humility.

Minister with Scripture.

Minister under authority.

And always remember:

People should leave your presence more aware of Jesus than they are of you.
