The True Spirit of Prophecy: The Testimony of Jesus | Ep. 16

In this final episode of School of the Prophets, we uncover the true spirit of prophecy — the testimony of Jesus Christ. Many people pursue the prophetic for power, influence, and revelation… but true prophecy always points back to Jesus.

If Christ is missing from the center, the prophetic flow becomes distorted. In this teaching, you will learn: What the “Spirit of Prophecy” truly means Why Jesus must remain the center of prophetic ministry The danger of prophetic ministry without Christ-centeredness How true prophecy reveals God’s heart The difference between revelation and relationship The final test of authentic prophetic flow Key Scriptures: Revelation 19:10 — “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” John 15:5 — “Apart from Me you can do nothing” Colossians 1:18 — “That in all things He may have preeminence” Training Focus: Christ-Centered Ministry, Purity, Spiritual Alignment If you’ve ever: Pursued prophecy more than Jesus Focused on gifts more than relationship Wanted deeper purity in the prophetic Desired authentic prophetic flow centered on Christ This message will realign your heart.

There is one question that every prophetic person must continually ask:

"Does this reveal Jesus?"

The Book of Revelation gives us one of the most important keys for understanding prophetic ministry:

Revelation 19:10

"For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

This means that the ultimate purpose of prophecy is not information.

It is revelation.

Not the revelation of future events.

Not the revelation of hidden facts.

Not the revelation of the prophet.

But the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Many prophetic people become fascinated with mysteries.

Dreams.

Visions.

Symbols.

Timelines.

Signs.

Yet the purpose of all genuine prophecy is to reveal Christ more clearly.

If a prophetic ministry constantly draws attention to itself, something is wrong.

If people leave talking more about the prophet than Jesus, something is wrong.

If prophecy produces fear without faith, fascination without transformation, or dependence upon man rather than dependence upon God, something is wrong.

Throughout Scripture, prophecy pointed to Jesus.

Moses pointed to Jesus.

Isaiah pointed to Jesus.

Jeremiah pointed to Jesus.

John the Baptist pointed to Jesus.

The Holy Spirit points to Jesus.

The prophet points to Jesus.

The true test of prophecy is not how mysterious it sounds.

The true test is whether Christ is being revealed.

The mature prophet understands:

"I am not the message."

Jesus is the message.

PROPHETIC LAB

Lab Objective

To understand the central purpose of prophecy, evaluate prophetic ministry through a Christ-centered lens, and cultivate a ministry that consistently reveals Jesus.

ACTIVATION 1 — The Jesus Test

Read:

Revelation 19:10

Write:

  • What does "the testimony of Jesus" mean?

  • Why is this verse important?

  • How does it change the way we view prophecy?

Journal your thoughts.

ACTIVATION 2 — Follow the Thread

Study:

Isaiah 53

Psalm 22

Micah 5:2

John 1:29

Identify:

  • How each prophecy points to Jesus

  • What aspect of Christ is being revealed

  • Why prophecy was given

Write your observations.

ACTIVATION 3 — Christ-Centered Evaluation

Think about a prophetic word you have received.

Ask:

Did it reveal Jesus?

Did it increase my faith?

Did it encourage obedience?

Did it strengthen my relationship with God?

Journal your answers.

ACTIVATION 4 — The Spotlight Test

Ask yourself:

When I minister:

  • Do I point people toward Christ?

  • Do I seek attention?

  • Do I desire recognition?

  • Do I enjoy being perceived as spiritual?

Allow the Holy Spirit to search your motives.

Write what He reveals.

ACTIVATION 5 — Worship Before Revelation

Spend 20 minutes worshiping Jesus.

Do not seek a prophecy.

Do not seek a vision.

Simply focus on Christ.

Afterward journal:

  • What you learned about Jesus

  • What attributes stood out

  • What the Holy Spirit emphasized

  • What does it reveal about Jesus?

  • How was it fulfilled?

Write your findings.

ASSIGNMENT 4

For seven days:

Read one Gospel chapter daily.

Record:

What did I learn about Jesus?

What attribute stood out?

How can I imitate Him?

Bring journal notes to class discussion.

ASSIGNMENT 5

  • Sermons

  • Prophetic words

  • Social media posts

  • Ministry content

Ask:

Is Jesus central?

Does this glorify Christ?

Does this produce discipleship?

Write a one-page evaluation.

MEMORY VERSES

Revelation 19:10

"For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

John 15:26

"He will testify of Me."

Colossians 1:18

"That in all things He may have the preeminence."

Memorize and meditate on these verses throughout the week.

FINAL CHALLENGE

Many people pursue prophecy.

Few pursue Jesus.

Many seek revelation.

Few seek relationship.

Many become fascinated with spiritual things.

Few become fascinated with Christ.

The question is not:

"Can I prophesy?"

The deeper question is:

"Does my life reveal Jesus?"

Because at the end of the day, the greatest prophet is not the one who gives the most accurate words.

The greatest prophet is the one whose ministry causes people to fall more deeply in love with Jesus Christ.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

Jesus, You are the center.

You are the message.

You are the focus.

Protect me from seeking attention.

Protect me from spiritual pride.

May every prophetic gift You entrust to me reveal Your beauty.

May every word I speak glorify You.

May my life testify of Jesus.

In Your holy name. Amen.
